Dubbed by many as "one of the best riders never to have won the World Championship", Leigh Adams retired from International speedway at the end of the 2010 season. He sustained serious spinal damage whilst practising to contest the Finke Desert Race in Australia in 2011. Despite having to use a wheelchair, Leigh has regained some movement in his left leg, and continues his rehabilitation.
