Meeting notes:
The original staging of this meeting the previous day was cancelled because of rain.
*Steve Gresham was meant to partner Bruce Penhall for the USA after Kelly Moran was injured in practise, but failed to turn up at the meeting. Ronnie Preston was drafted in to replace him but got stranded at Heathrow Airport, so Penhall was therefore allowed to ride with a Danish reserve, whose points would not count.
**Finland's Ila Teromaa was taken to hospital with a broken leg sustained in a crash in heat 5, and was replaced in his remaining rides by Dane Jens Nielsen, whose points also would not count.
In a controversial heat 21 Edward Jancarz and Hans Nielsen crossed the line together. Jancarz claimed he beat the Dane, which would have meant Denmark would have tied the meeting with England, forcing a race-off for the title, but the referee ruled in Nielsen's favour to give Denmark the Championship.
