**Meeting note:
The SCB later deemed the use of R/R for Theo Pijper to be illegal and issued the following statement:
Edinburgh utilised Rider Replacement for the absent Theo Pijper.
Pijper who was en route to Forssa, Finland to take part in the FIM Long Track Championship Meeting being staged on Saturday 8th June with a signing-on time of 3pm.
A query raised regarding Edinburgh’s eligibility to use the RR facility for Pijper was made just 40 minutes before start time. As the facts could not be determined the meeting proceeded with Edinburgh utilising the Rider Replacement Facility.
A Facility for taking part in an FIM Long Track Meeting according to SR 18.1.2 (H) is available only for the day of the Meeting, although where it is shown and agreed that the Rider cannot arrive by Meeting Signing-On time the Club can apply prior to the Speedway Meeting for the BSPA to grant special permission.
Subsequent checks confirm that the BSPA did not receive a request prior to Friday 7th June.
Accordingly as permitted by SR 15.10.1 the Meeting Result is now revised by deducting those points scored by Riders taking Pijper’s Rider replacement rides and is therefore:
EDINBURGH 39 REDCAR 47
The effect is that Redcar now take 4 Match Points.
